We had fantastic lunch at this restaurant with my friend. Monday surprised us and many of the restaurants were closed but luckily not this one! We took 2 tasty tapases each and crowned the experience with lava cake that was heavenly good. Service was friendly and waitress appeared every time with smile on her face. Atmosphere outside is ok and even better inside. Smoking outside made us change the table once therefore a little minus. Overall I strongly recommend this restaurant!

Mijas Pueblo is home to many great eateries, but this one is our favourite!

The first time we visited, it was pouring with rain on a cool January lunchtime. But the welcome from staff at Alboka Gastro could not have been warmer and instantly made us feel at home. We were shown to a lovely table by a large window overlooking the square, from where we could watch the rain, whilst staying nice and dry ourselves.

The team were knowledgeable about both the food and also the wine menus and able to provide helpful advice. The menu was extensive and the hardest part was deciding on our selections because there were so many tempting offerings!

And we were not disappointed....everything we ordered was superbly cooked and beautifully presented. Things you might see on menus in other restaurants came with an 'Alboka Gastro twist', which just elevated them to a new level. Like the Prawns with Chilli & Garlic (which came with tiny tomatoes in the oil, giving a velvety and slightly sweeter flavour), or the Scallops (which were cooked at our table and served with a delightful 'zing' of fresh lime zest).

We loved it so much that we just had to return on the final day of our holiday ... by which time the sun had come out and we were able to enjoy the mountain views from the sheltered terrace to the side of the restaurant.

Our Spanish isn't great, but everyone helped out with great patience and shared their (far superior) English with us too, so we managed a reasonable and even humorous conversation between us. By the time we left, we felt like old friends.

Our thanks to the whole team for your fantastic attention to detail, your friendly and warm service and your AMAZING food.

For everyone else reading this - if you get the opportunity to visit this really special restaurant, please do so. You won't regret it! (And like us, you may well decide to return again and again).

Prawns gram masala was good but sauce was too sweet (tastes like rice pudding), leek was tasteless and not worth it, baby lamb was dried out. Expensive for what they provide
What an amazing dinner with Lorena and Fabricio….
Great recommendations, very caring professionals. Ivan set up our tables. The Bacalao, Salmon, Pork Shank, plus the Tapas; Vieiras (scallops) Tuna Tartare, Shrimps, Bread, Vegetables Lasagna, Codillo, Burrata Salad, etc. Plus awesome Negroni and Aperol Spritzes. Even the ice cream and Orujo de Hierbas; all truly special. A place to come back many times. Thanks Lorena and Fabricio!
