We are the catering company that provided food and beverage service at the THROWDOWN ANTEQUERA event last week.
This is a public complaint against the organizers of said event. In addition to the corresponding legal action for non-payment that will be filed.
Humberto Merida and Phermin offered us the food and beverage service for the event, initially with conditions that were never met. Everything was to be served from the bar, the service was to run from Friday to Sunday, and they even said we could set up a bar in the town center for the race.
They wanted to charge us €1900 for the use of a public space belonging to the town hall, assuring us that it would be profitable because we could even serve alcoholic beverages. We asked them to sign a contract, and they told us it wasn't necessary. They said they trusted us, and so on...
Days before the event, they told us that the town hall wouldn't allow them to use the bar and that we had to set everything up in a food truck. We accepted and requested electricity and water connections for its setup.
We warned them about the high risk of rain and asked them to please try to move indoors because we were going to get wet and sales wouldn't be the same.
With everything ready to set up, they told us on Wednesday that we couldn't set up until Thursday at 8 pm, and only until 10 pm. They also said that, unfortunately, Friday's service was canceled and the race bar couldn't be set up.
We arrived on Friday and only had one measly electrical outlet and one water tap without a hose or anything. We told the organizers, but we only saw them twice all weekend; they didn't seem to care about us. We had to set up as best we could, under deplorable conditions, without being able to offer half of the food menu we had prepared.
They asked us for tickets for 150 breakfasts and 150 lunches, and said that we would settle the accounts on Monday and they would send us the invoice.
The Monday after the event arrived, and they told us they weren't going to reimburse us for the tickets we used the space. We called the town hall, and they said that was illegal. Phermin called me, and we agreed to take back his breakfast ticket. He agreed and said he would reimburse us.
A week passed, and today he told us again that they had changed their minds and weren't going to reimburse us at all, saying they had unforeseen circumstances and couldn't cover the expense.
We have all the tickets for the food and drinks consumed, as well as witnesses and all the conversations with the organizers.
We are waiting for a response from these organizers before taking further legal action.
