Definitely worth considering if you're in the area. We did the Victoria cave, but you start out by actually going into a "special" part of Tesoro (treasure) first. This is where we saw the deer cave drawing (no pics allowed), one of the highlights for sure, while getting some context & then moving on to Victoria.
Upsides were:
a/ fantastic guide 🙏🏻 - fun, passionate, knowledgeable, both Spanish and English
b/ the small ladder descent and maneuvering through the Victoria cave was just fun! (note: not for the corporeally feeble or claustrophobic 😜... a few ladder climbs and a couple spots using ropes to body assist an ascent, lots of holding on to cave walls as you make your way through certain parts. Not talking mountaineering here but if you're older or have a bad knee, hip, etc, just bear it in mind).
c. Obviously, the history lesson was superb! Again, the guide really made this tour: exceptionally knowledgeable & enthusiastic. We learned a ton about our homo sapiens ancestors, the area, and more.
The only, and I mean only, "less than perfect" aspect was probably when we were all (8) sitting in a semicircle and he pulled out some "replica artifacts" to show us the evolutionary history. I know they do this kind of thing for educational reasons (and do it there in the cave for the ambience and all), and like I've said, loved that part. BUT I think we thought we'd see more actual cave paintings than we did.
Don't get me wrong: we still enjoyed ourselves & would 100% recommend the tour! Just had our expectations tempered a little bit is all. Definitely fascinating and worth it.
