About the neighbourhood: Málaga-Este

The Eastern district stretches along the coast from La Malagueta beach to the village-like fishing quarter of El Palo. It contains some of the city's most distinctive areas: La Malagueta (urban beach next to the port), Pedregalejo (palm-lined seafront paseo, traditional espetos), El Palo (working fishing community and casual chiringuitos), and El Limonar / Cerrado de Calderón (residential hillside with sea views). Local buses 11 and 34 connect the entire strip to the city centre. The seafront promenade is continuous and walkable end-to-end.

I am a former student of this school, which I entered at age four and left at eighteen. My siblings did too. I can only feel gratitude for the education and values I received. We all developed academically and professionally.
I spent the happiest years of my life there. The environment is unique, the atmosphere is like a family, the teaching is excellent, and the methodology was groundbreaking for its time. The culture and critical and reflective thinking acquired at the school are truly remarkable—something that is highly valued today. My children will also attend the school, along with their cousins.

I was at this school from age 4 to 15. Thank God, I transferred to a Spanish school where I truly learned, completed an excellent high school diploma, earned a university degree, and now have a great job. I don't know how this school wasn't criticized in the 90s and 00s for how militaristic it was. Rigid teachers treated children like robots. A huge amount of homework, exams, and an extremely high level of difficulty. A school that seemed intent on ruining your childhood. Nowadays, with internet access, social media, etc., I suppose things have changed a lot. It's not normal that at 8 years old we had a certain teacher who mistreated us, hitting us on the head with notebooks and rulers, throwing things at our faces, pulling the girls' hair and ears, and screaming like a madwoman. Children who cried and trembled, but when the head of studies and the principal walked by, she would suddenly change and act all nice. She was a mentally unstable person in charge of children, and nobody did anything, nor have I read anything about it. Anyway, that's how things were back then. Educationally, it was very good—the French system, I'm not criticizing it. But academically, it was a slaughterhouse for children who were forced to do everything in French, and if you got lost, that was your problem. The teachers barely knew their students' names. Nowadays, I'm lucky enough to have a son who goes to a regular school where he receives a lot of time and the education is much more personalized and sensitive. Mental health is fundamental, and this school didn't care about it, not even for its students, and even less so for certain teachers who acted like drill sergeants.

This school looks wonderful but falls far short of its appearance, price, and reputation. The academic standards are low, and based on our experience, the well-being of the children is clearly not a priority. It's best not to comment further. Of course, there are some fantastic teachers and kind staff members. We are very happy that we no longer have to send our children there.

My experience at Liceo Sevilla (Early Childhood Education) was very negative. In my opinion, the children's well-being is not a priority: I perceived a lack of empathy, poor communication, and disrespectful methods. We chose this private school trusting in its academic level and the added benefit of learning French, but the emotional toll far outweighed any advantages. I would never enroll any child there again and recommend that other parents thoroughly investigate before making a decision.
