About the neighbourhood: Málaga-Este

The Eastern district stretches along the coast from La Malagueta beach to the village-like fishing quarter of El Palo. It contains some of the city's most distinctive areas: La Malagueta (urban beach next to the port), Pedregalejo (palm-lined seafront paseo, traditional espetos), El Palo (working fishing community and casual chiringuitos), and El Limonar / Cerrado de Calderón (residential hillside with sea views). Local buses 11 and 34 connect the entire strip to the city centre. The seafront promenade is continuous and walkable end-to-end.

We had a GREAT time as a group from the USA. Made students learned so much and the staff was great. My students say their favorite part was the cooking class with Juan. Juan was so personable and funny! Highly recommend this language school. It was our first time and I plan on doing this every year!!!

I’ve done two weeks of their cookery course that consist of 16hrs 40mins of Spanish general lessons weekly, 2hrs of cooking session twice a week and some excursions related to the gastronomy. Teachers change everyday in the first and second session of the day. (Each session is 100mins)

(Pros)
-The whole program is very well structured.
-The school staff is informative and supportive.
-My morning main teacher Pilar is absolutely fantastic, she is very knowledgeable and professional. I’ve learnt a lot from her.
-The cooking teacher Juan is also worth mentioned, he is fun to learn with yet very organised that everyone has an opportunity to take a part even when we have a big group.
-Interactive whiteboard.
-Excursions are not just to have fun but also to fully immerse in the Spanish culture and enhance our knowledge.

(Cons)
-They only accept cash when you want to join ‘paid’ excursions.
-You need to email your credit card detail in an electric form to make a payment for enrolment if you prefer not to do bank transfer (which incurs some fee)
-Some teachers only let us discuss under certain topics for the entire 100mins session. There is however no teaching of new expression or vocab introduced on the whiteboard alongside.

If there was 4.5, I would give 4.5 - overall, it is a very good school that needs a tiny little improvement in some areas in my opinion. I’ve met loads of lovely people from all over the world which has become the best part of my study at Malaca. I am happy to return and would recommend to anyone who wants to learn Spanish and the culture. Gracias ☺️

I took a Spanish-Class for one week at the Malaca Insituto. By far the biggest advantage of the Instituto are the teachers. They create a very pleasant atmosphere during the classes and are always very friendly and open. Another big advantage is also the very international community of students, I had quite some interesting talks with people from other countries I enjoyed a lot.
But there are also some disadvantages:
- The school is not very close to the city centre, you either have to take the bus or a taxi to get there
- Breakfast is ok, but they have a "5 points max" system there to limit the amount of food per student. Quite annoying...
- The receptionists are more or less friendly but certainly not helpful for learning/practising Spanish. At least in my case with my skills when I tried to talk to them on Spanish they gave some kind of "What do you want?" look rather than helping me to express what I want on Spanish

I had a really good experience here learning Spanish because the teachers were amazing and were super nice. Also the buildings were nice and the activities were well scheduled. Also it was fun to talk with people in my house and I got a lot better at Spanish.
