Our canyoning trip on the Guadalmina River was organized perfectly from start to finish. Everything we needed was provided, from safety gear to clear instructions, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The adventure itself was a fantastic mix of swimming, jumping, sliding, and rappelling, all surrounded by breathtaking canyon scenery. The route felt safe yet exciting, with options for everyone, whether you wanted to push your limits or just enjoy the natural beauty. A special thank you goes to our guide, Vera, whose energy, patience, and professionalism made the day even more memorable. She encouraged us through the challenging parts while making sure we all had fun. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Marbella who is looking for an unforgettable outdoor adventure.

Our tapas tour was so fun! We couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Rafa. He has great enthusiasm and knowledge, and kept up a nice pace for our group. At each stop for tapas and drinks he made sure to take care of the details and explain the food and locations in between.

Our family did the Benhavis River Walk (or canyoning) with Marbella Adventures and we would 100% recommend it to anyone else looking for something different to do with your kids! Our boys are 10, 11 and 13 and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure with Martin. We felt safe, it was fun and we all shared new experiences together than we’ll never forget! It was a perfect afternoon - thank-you so much guys! We would definitely come back! :)

After contacting this operator in 2025 regarding a group booking for the Guadalmina river, they confirmed running daily tours through the canyon and acknowledged in writing that the area falls under Zona de Especial Conservación protected status. I grew up visiting this canyon. The volume of commercial groups being pushed through a protected natural space daily is the core problem here, regardless of whatever licensing permits it.

Additionally, this operator has publicly claimed in writing that local municipal law requires all visitors to wear helmets. Knowing this was false, I contacted the Benahavís Ayuntamiento directly to get it in writing. Their official written response confirmed the municipality has zero regulatory authority over the river and cannot impose obligations on independent visitors. The operator's own insurance or safety policies may require helmets internally, but those are private business requirements, not law. That distinction matters when a business uses it to discredit reviewers in public responses.

The canyon is still beautiful. You can visit independently, for free, and leave it exactly as you found it. All you need is a towel, water, good shoes, and a waterproof bag. The route has sections that require agility; if you are not comfortable on uneven wet rock, turn back rather than push through. No guided tour required to make that call responsibly.

My husband, our two daughters (21 , 17) , and I booked a canyoning tour with Marbella Adventures — and it was an unforgettable experience! I had never gone canyoning before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But it turned out to be the perfect introduction to river adventure.

We jumped from cliffs, swam through clear pools, and learned how to navigate the rocky riverbed. I was amazed by the beauty of the Guadalmina River canyon — I had no idea such a stunning place existed.

Our guide, Juan, was excellent: friendly, patient, and very safety-conscious. He explained everything clearly to make sure we had a fun and accident-free experience. We were provided with helmets, wetsuits, and harnesses, so we felt well-equipped and safe throughout the tour.

The guide also made a great effort to explain everything in English, which we really appreciated.

One important thing to note: you do need to be a confident swimmer. Some parts of the river are quite deep and require swimming. A young man in our group struggled with this and unfortunately had to leave the tour early.

Overall, it was an exciting and well-organized activity — highly recommended for adventurous families with strong swimmers!
