The Moorish Cork Mill is a jewel of Alhaurín el Grande's historical heritage. This mill, of Moorish origin, represents medieval hydraulic engineering and reflects the importance of milling in the traditional Andalusian economy. Its location by the river and its stone architecture make it a living testament to the region's Moorish past. Although the passage of time has left its mark, its structure retains its original character. It is a key place to understand local history and traditions. Highly recommended for history and rural architecture enthusiasts.
It's one of the few traditional watermills still standing in the province of Málaga, and although it's called the Cork Mill, it was used to grind wheat and other grains.
It's located in a beautiful, lush setting.
I didn't know this place existed, and it was a pleasant surprise. I think it's a wonderful place, steeped in history and very important in its time.
The person who shows us around and acts as our guide (his grandson) gave us a very engaging and thorough explanation.
We wanted to go on a weekday, but everything was closed. To fully appreciate the place, you have to try going there on the weekend. We saw a few things from the street, but weren't completely satisfied.
We'll try on Sunday or Saturday.
It's a very inviting place.
