About the neighbourhood: Distrito Centro

Málaga's historic core, bounded by the Guadalmedina river to the west, the port to the south and the slopes of Mount Gibralfaro to the east. The district contains the Cathedral, the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba fortress, the Picasso Museum and the Pompidou Centre, plus the main shopping street Calle Marqués de Larios. Inside Distrito Centro sit the well-known sub-areas of Centro Histórico, Soho, La Merced and Lagunillas. The area is almost entirely pedestrianised, served by Metro Atarazanas and the Málaga–Centro Alameda rail station.

I really enjoy reading the Olive Press, both the news by the hour online and the print editions. Very informative, quite interesting content. Great reviews of the week with the newsletter....helps me to keep up to date what is happening in Spain. Keep up the same way, well done!

I would enjoy reading the articles but despite registering, every time I click on an article it says I have exhausted my free article views, meaning I have to pay to subscribe. There are lots of other free newspapers out so will have to start reading them.

I was surprised that the second year’s subscription was deducted without prior warning. I suppose this was my fault not having read the contract conditions.

Anyway.

I wrote to Olive Press of the 27 November:

I didn't get an email that my subscription was going to be extended. I've just seen that you're going to charge on Visa. I do not want this, because we don't have time to look at this. Please cancel my subscription immediately and pay back the 60 Euros.

I didn’t get an answer until I re-sent this mail twice.

Then I received this mail from Jon Clarke sent cc to Kate:

Sorry
Kate can help.
Can we ask why? And can we offer a year for half price?

So I wrote to Kate:

as you saw, Jon sent me this mail.

I didn’t know that the subscription renewed automatically, otherwise I would have cancelled it a long time ago.

We just haven’t got the time to read it. And it’s not that relevant for the Canary Islands.

I’ve seen that the cancellation is pending. Could you please refund the € 60 that was deducted for the next year?

She replied sent cc to Jon:

Thanks for letting us know, it would be Jon's decision on the refund.

Jon please let us know how to proceed.

A couple more mails went to and fro. Jon told me a refund wasn’t possible because their invoicing and so on is done by some external company. My last mail was ignored.

This - a refund wasn’t possible - might be the case but as an argument it’s completely ridiculous. He’s got no access to any company accounts? As the editor? Well.

So another 60 Euros wasted. This is just a warning for other customers. Maybe this review will cost them more than the refund to me would have done.

I’m wondering what he will write to this review. He tends to reply to reviews that aren’t 5 star.

I have paid for online reviews with no ads. It’s 75% adverts. When I called and explained I had paid extra for no adverts I was told I don’t get as many as those that don’t pay extra. Having lived in Spain for 5 years and the last 5 years a few months a year I would NOT RECOMMEND the Oliver press with overloaded adverts it’s impossible to read. My last subscription! Never again. But I would pick up the free olive press dotted around Spain and in most large towns…

The first review I read on here is absolutely correct! They wanted to do an interview with me concerning a neighbor and then the journalist turned it over to the owner who twisted the story around and now it’s completely inaccurate at this point. I’m seeking damages through my attorney at the moment. Do not trust the accuracy of anything you read in this paper.
