I enjoyed that our waiter was Cuban. In a tourist-heavy area, it added a welcome Spanish-speaking touch to the atmosphere.
As a Norwegian, I judge places by two things: the quality of the fish and the temperature of the beer.
Bar El Pulguilla did well on the fish front. The tuna salad was fresh, the boquerones were the best I’ve had in Spain so far, and the fish with potatoes felt homemade and comforting. The croquetas were rich and satisfying.
The natilla dessert was excellent, though the triple chocolate dessert was less impressive and lacked the freshness of the rest of the meal.
The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, and the service was warm and attentive.
My only complaint is the caña. It was cold by Spanish standards, but a Norwegian might still wish for another degree or two of refrigeration.
Overall, I’d rate it around 3.5 stars, but happily round up to 4. Fresh food, friendly service, fair prices, and no unnecessary fuss.
Great seafood and tapas, reasonably priced.
The mixed fish plates are fantastic, the small size if more than enough for one and the large is big enough for sharing between three and four with a few other tapas.
Everything super fresh and based on how busy it is there is no doubt they get a large order of the daily catch every day.
Nice atmosphere and really friendly staff.
Location wise it's off the main streets but we'll worth seeking out.
Wine and after dinner drinks are well priced.
Indoor and outdoor tables.
Closed Thursday's as no doubt the busy staff need a well earned rest.
This was our favorite restaurant during our 5 days vacation! We loved it so much that we came back for a 2nd visit just to enjoy the amazing food again. I had the chance to try gazpacho at several different restaurants during our trip, but this one was by far the best I’ve ever had. Every dish we ordered was fresh. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality exceeded our expectations. If we ever return to the area, this will definitely be one of our first stops. Highly recommended!
Visited two times. Both times, there were amazing staff, very welcoming and friendly. First time, we ordered mixed fried seafood, which was quite salty. Second time, it was paella and that was the one of the best I have tried. You need to reserve beforehand. Recommending also to request to add no additional salt.
