Method. Figures from July 2026. We analysed the published opening hours of 8,848 active businesses across Málaga province (of 10,103 listed). “Closes midday” = the published hours split the day into two blocks on at least one weekday. We count Monday to Friday only, and only days the business actually opens, so a “closed Mondays” never skews the result. Towns shown have 40+ businesses in the sample; trades 60+; in the same-trade control, towns 20+.
