It is one of the few civil monuments that has survived the coastal urban development boom and remains a landmark for newcomers to the city, whether for work or leisure.
It marks the entrance (or exit) to Avenida de Mijas, which structures the city both inland (the Mijas-Las Lagunas area) and towards the historic center and the seafront promenade, located just 200 meters away.
The avenue boasts a generous green roof, similar to that of the neighboring Calle de los Condes de San Isidro, although the choice of fast-growing trees with seed-bearing seeds produces a considerable amount of debris that, in winter, sometimes creates a slippery surface. The avenue houses courts, notary offices, and the land registry, and the numerous regulated parking spaces make parking easy, a positive point compared to other coastal towns where a 10-15 minute walk from the car to the town center is practically guaranteed.
