Boutique Hostal Lorca

We honestly can't recommend Boutique Hostal Lorca enough.
We originally booked for one night but changed our plans at the last minute and decided to stay for two. After booking the second night, Julian gave us a call just to make sure we knew where to park and how to find the hostel. We weren't arriving until around 10:30pm, right in the middle of Spain playing in the World Cup, but he reassured us someone would still be there to welcome us.
We arrived a little later than planned and were greeted by Amber with the warmest welcome. Even though it was nearly 11pm, she took the time to show us around the beautiful hostel, explain the kitchen and pool area, and even got out a map of Nerja to point out all the best places to visit. It genuinely felt like we'd arrived at an old friend's house rather than a hostel.
Our room was simple but had everything we needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and although there isn't air conditioning, the fans worked perfectly. We both slept brilliantly for both nights.
The next morning we were up early for paddleboarding, and Amber's parking recommendation near the beach was spot on. After a busy morning exploring Nerja, we met Julian properly. Just like Amber, he was so friendly and easy to talk to. We ended up sitting in the beautiful courtyard chatting with them both, and it felt like we'd known them for years. The courtyard is a little oasis, peaceful and full of character. We didn't get chance to use the pool, but it looked lovely.
When we checked out, Amber even told us that if we needed a shower before driving home, we were welcome to come back later and use one of theirs. It's little gestures like that which really set this place apart.
I'm writing this review the morning after we got home, and we've already started planning our next trip back. We've already recommended Boutique Hostal Lorca to friends and family, and we'll definitely be staying here again.

Amber & Julien might genuinely be some of the friendliest, warmest, and most helpful hosts I’ve ever met. Thank you so much for everything! Even though we only stayed for one night, they did everything they could to make us feel truly at home 🥹

Our room had a pool and garden view, and waking up to that view was absolutely beautiful. Although the room wasn’t very big or brand new, it was clean and perfectly sufficient for two people. There’s no air conditioning in the room, only a ceiling fan, but it was more than enough for us in May.

The kitchen is always open, so you can freely make yourself tea or coffee and prepare your own food whenever you like. (There is a refrigerator and basic kitchen equipment available, but no stove or oven) There’s even a bowl full of fresh fruit waiting for you 🍎🍌

They also told us we could leave our luggage there both before check-in and after check-out for as long as we needed, which was such a lifesaver while traveling 🙏 Another thoughtful detail was that they said we were welcome to continue enjoying the garden and pool even after check-out. (We didn’t use the pool ourselves, it wasn’t very big, but it looked fine for cooling off during the day)

The hotel is in a very convenient location: Nerja bus station is only a 3-minute walk away, while the town center, restaurants, and beaches are about 8–9 minutes on foot. There’s also a large Mercadona supermarket just 2–3 minutes away.

They also gave us plenty of great recommendations for Nerja and the surrounding area. If you stay here, you’ll see that I’m not exaggerating at all, they truly do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and welcome.

If we ever come back to Nerja, we would stay here again without hesitation and will definitely recommend it to everyone ❤️

This is a lovely little hotel. The beds are good, the rooms are simple and cool in this old stone building. That means a roof fan is fine and air con is not required. The garden and pool are a very relaxing place to spend time, as is the communal kitchen. Very good location, close to my favourite tapas bar La Puntilla. La Marina is also very good for seafood tapas in a local atmosphere. The owners of Hostal Lorca, Amber and Julien are lovely people and are always around and ready to help. My favourite place to stay in Nerja.

My family and I stayed at Hostal Lorca for a week, and it was an incredible experience. Amber and Julien were truly the best hosts we’ve ever had—and we’ve traveled the world! They made us feel right at home with their kindness and attention to detail.

Our room overlooked a charming street and had a lovely little balcony. The beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and the room had plenty of space with a large closet, desk, and chair—all without feeling cramped. The bathroom was clean, well-equipped, and had all the essentials.

The building is beautifully decorated, and we had full access to a shared kitchen area with a fridge and microwave. They even made fresh coffee for guests and offered fruit in the mornings.

The pool and patio area felt like a tropical retreat—so relaxing. Pool towels were provided and could be taken to the beach, which is just a short 10-minute walk away. There’s also a grocery store just 3 minutes away, and you’re surrounded by fantastic restaurants and shops.

We just left and already can’t wait to come back!
