Utterly impregnable castle built by the Moorish rulers of this valley, a thousand years ago. The castle is about two to three centuries ahead of UK castles in terms of design as it is similar to Edwardian rather than Norman castles. The primary access from the village is a very steep path but the ‘back door’ is a much easier path. The castle contains a water cistern, just like Masada but must’ve been tough to garrison. The views are epic and it is well worth a visit
