City Sightseeing Benalmádena

Worst City Sightseeing tour that I have ever done. Starting Stop 1 is different on the App to the actual stop. A girl in coffee shop had to tell us where to go. First bus was due to start at Stop one at 10:30hrs yesterday 29th May 2026 but bus didn’t arrive until 10:50hrs. The audio on a number of audio ports was inaudible and waste of time. We got off at stop 8 to do the Tivoli Cable Car. The app or the website timetable have no relation to reality. We came back at the time that we were told the bus would be back and waited 75 minutes in the sun before the bus arrived. When we tried to get on the bus the bus driver who has no idea how to speak to customers told us he was talking a break and wouldn’t be back until 14:45hrs which was another 70 minutes later. That is a 70 minute break only 165 minutes after starting. Before the bus arrived many people got fed up and got taxis. There is no mention anywhere in the app or the website about the bus would take a break in the middle of the route. People who didn’t want to get off at Stop 8 had to get off and were not happy. I can understand taking a break at the end of the route but not in the middle. When we would have to wait another 70 minutes we were so fed up we walked the 3km back to our hotel. When on holidays around the world I always use City Sightseeing buses and always loved it. This one is the worst tour of any description that I ever took. We paid €30 for 8 Stops and a 3 km walk. Utter rubbish. Avoid.

The company sells "tour packages" but does not take any responsibility when they do not provide the service advertised.

They sell a boat tour as part of a package but when you arrive, you are informed the boat is out of service and refuse to refund your money.

Criminal to take people's money knowing you cannot provide the service you advertised.

Reported to EU complaints department as this business practice is completely underhanded and scummy!

Ultimate disappointment!
We visited Benalmadena and saw the City Sightseeing tour leaflet. This includes a number of packages, and the Ultimate package (the most expensive!) looked attractive. This included the bus tour and entry to the butterfly park, the aquarium and a dolphin watching tour.
The butterfly park and aquarium are both great (and I will review them separately and positively). However, I was uncertain about the departure times for the dolphin watching tour. I contacted City Sightseeing to enquire, and received an email with a screenshot of times for a ferry trip. I replied and asked again, saying I was interested specifically in the dolphin watching tour. Once again, a screenshot of what is included, from a page which simply refers to a boat tour. Completely incapable of actually answering the question. I called and spoke to someone who gave me departure times (which subsequently appeared to be for the ferry and not the dolphin watching tour, and was also based on the summer schedule, so incorrect on two counts).
In addition to the confusion about what was actually included (despite the printed brochure clearly stating a dolphin-watching tour) the weather was unseasonably bad and the boats didn’t actually go out for a week – we contacted City Sightseeing to say that they had been unable to deliver the experience as advertised, so would they provide a refund for the element that we couldn’t use? Their answer – nope, not our problem. The terms and conditions (which of course their agents don’t mention when they are approaching you in the street and pushing the packages) say that pretty much nothing is their responsibility.
And as for the bus tour – one bus every 90 minutes that doesn’t go to the old town. We were advised that instead they will give you a ticket that could be used on the local buses, but didn’t mention that the local buses are always full when they get to the bus stop, so simply drive past you. Benalmadena is lovely to walk along the seafront, but frankly not interesting to spend 90 minutes on a bus crawling around the streets. There might have been some really interesting sights that we were to look out for, but although we were given headphones, none of the sockets seemed to be working.
The bus tour is pretty worthless (maybe indicated by the fact that every time we saw a bus pass us during our holiday, it was usually almost empty). The ultimate package would be good value, but I couldn’t recommend City Sightseeing for their inability to actually provide accurate information, and the fact that they won’t take any responsibility once they have your money. They front the package and take the payment, but if anything goes wrong, they don’t seem to care.

Don't bother. Waste of money. Bad customer service. I bought an adults and a children's ticket for Benalmadena. We waited at the bus stop for the bus, and when it arrived, it parked a bit forward of the bus stop so we had to run to get it. The bus stopped for no more than 5 seconds before heading off again, so we had no time to get onto it. Then later that day, we planned to catch the bus from Bil Bil castle down to Peurto Marina, however there was no visible bus stop or signage in the area, so we did not know where to wait for the bus. The bus company refused us a refund.

We decided to take a hop on and hop off bus arround Benalmadena, got on the top deck no problems, wonderful views of all the sights, we decided to go all the way round first and then pick the stops we wanted to get off at later, bus tickets valid for 48hrs, good imformation of all sights, the bus has ear phone in 8 languages.
