I must say I am pleasantly surprised. Usually with renting a car abroad you are always reading comments and not sure if you pick the right company.

We were helped in a very friendly way at the counter, booked through booking.com and added all insurance to be sure.

Car was clean, and we got an upgrade which was nice.

When handing the car back in, best was to look for europcar car return on google maps.

Handing the car in was done by a woman on the bottom garage floor. She took care of the process so no need to go back to the counter. Got the report right away in my email.

Again, pleasantly surprised 😅😄

Was a great experience, the rep at the front desk was very helpful and did not try and over sell me. Offered up a couple friendly tips for my trip. The car pick up was a 3min walk from the terminal, not complicated to access.

I’ll be formally disputing with customer service and through my AMEX, but just so people are aware:

1) There was prior damage to the car and they’re trying to claim we caused the damage. Thankfully, I took photos of the damage before we drove the car. ALWAYS TAKE PHOTOS.

2) We ordered a basic economy and at the counter, the lady told us the car we wanted was unavailable. She presented a Mercedes as the closest option, acting like she was doing us a favour by giving us a new and improved car. Classic bait & switch situation because now we’ve been charged an extra 30 euros for a “customer choice” fee. What choice? She just gave us that car because the basic one we wanted was unavailable?

Beware.

Catalina was the best advisor we could wish for. We rented a car from Europcar in the central train station in Malaga. She asked us the right questions in order to provide the best suitable car for our road trip. A brand new MG. After such a fun encounter with Catalina the start of our beautiful road trip was already very good!
