About the neighbourhood: Málaga-Este

The Eastern district stretches along the coast from La Malagueta beach to the village-like fishing quarter of El Palo. It contains some of the city's most distinctive areas: La Malagueta (urban beach next to the port), Pedregalejo (palm-lined seafront paseo, traditional espetos), El Palo (working fishing community and casual chiringuitos), and El Limonar / Cerrado de Calderón (residential hillside with sea views). Local buses 11 and 34 connect the entire strip to the city centre. The seafront promenade is continuous and walkable end-to-end.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were pleasantly surprised how clean and well presented our room was. The beds were very comfortable. The heaters worked very well too. Antonio, the owner, is always at hand to help. Best of all there's a bar and restaurant next door which had a great menu. We had an English breakfast in the morning too. Car parking was outside on the street even more so because it was outside the hotel door. If you can't find it, it is close to the Chinese restaurant. Both are on the corner. Lots of parking there too.
I wouldn't pay much attention to the previous post on here. Antonio, the owner. was so helpful. A great guy.

Absolute nightmare. Firstly, we turned up to a locked up hotel. After ringing 3 numbers, finally someone answered and said they we're on their way. With our bags and suitcases outside the locked door, the owner turned up and opened the door and did not help with any of the bags. So we struggled inside with these. My wife has restricted ability due to an injury, and it would have been good manors and courteous to offer to help.
Once the key and access cards had been issued, my wife asked if there was a lift but was told no and directed to the flight of stairs and still no offer to help.
The room was clean, but only 1 bedside table and an internal window into a 3 floor drop with no safety bars down to an enclosed space with building materials at the bottom and very little natural light.
There was only 1 medium-sized towel and a bath mat for two people.
My wife went to speak to the owner to ask for one of the rooms with an outside view and he was rude and waved a printed piece of paper in her face telling her that the only way to get that room would be to pay 140 euros to upgrade. Something we suspect he does often. Although the description does not say it is an internal room with no view, it is obvious why he omitts this information so he can exploit customers to upgrade at a price.
After my wife said she thought this was unreasonable, he rudley dismissed her and told her to complain to Booking.com
She returned to the room very upset, and we decided to leave straight away and find another hotel.
I will also add that the hotel is also part of an adjoining noisey bar that we are now glad we decided to leave rather than endure the noise and disruption.
Avoid this place as the owner is a rude, arrogant, exploitative person, and the location is poor unless you want an enclosed stuffy room next to a noisy nightclub/bar

I've only been to the cafe in front. It looks good but I think they're still recovering from COVID. I know at least one guy has stayed there. Friendly cafe though.

Lovely little hotel, and the bar at the side is really nice and friendly.
