There was a lot of confusion between this Hotel Ronda (1 star) and another Hotel Ronda Nuevo (4 star). It was my mistake to book this hotel and expect 4 star standard!!

There was no reception and you have to call or use WhatsApp to contact a reception.

I think there was something wrong during my stay. My room was cold (although a heater was on) and there was no hot water. I could not take a shower at all. I just managed one night.

However, the location was the best, just a few minutes from the bridge, and the stay was very cost effective.

This property is nowhere near a 4 star. The only positive is the location.
It is in desperate need of renovations.
When I checked in, I was given a room with 3 single beds squeezed in. The beds were hard, the linen is old and the pillows lumpy. The bathroom is small but clean.
Perhaps suitable for younger travellers (pension/ hostel style)

We stumbled across this hotel whilst looking for somewhere to have lunch. I can’t comment on the hotel so I will only comment on the lunch service. There is a terrace in front of the hotel beneath a broad tree so on a hot sunny day the sun dapples though the branches and keeps the heat from the street at bay. It’s directly across from the ruined villa which houses a museum.
It only took a friendly smile and a couple of poor attempts at Spanish and the staff treated us like old friends. They couldn’t have been nicer and even helped me with my pronunciation without making me feel embarrassed. I had a tuna and tomato salad. I will be honest and say that it was the simplest salad I’ve ever eaten. Just tuna and tomato dressed with salt flakes on the tomatoes, herbs (oregano, I think) and good olive oil. Yet despite its simplicity I think it’s one of the best salads I ever had. The prices were reasonable for Ronda and if you go at the right time you’ll get to see the peacock who turns up at the hotel for his lunchtime feeding.

I really enjoyed my stay here in 2010. You couldn't ask for a more convenient location nor a more welcoming and hospitable staff. Señora Nieves was so kind and friendly, and spent time telling me the history of the building. It was the family home she grew up in. The lobby had pictures of her and her siblings as kids.

The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. It was also surprisingly quiet. The bathroom was a bit small but perfectly adequate. You just can't beat how central the location is. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else if I were to make a return trip to Ronda.
Trust the rating of a frequent travel with 1000+ overnight stays. Rather a bad managed "airbnb": 1) Zero personal on site. 2) room cleaned with "overdose" chlor containing cleaning chemicals (resulting in breathing problems). 3) Personal on-site during check-in not knowledgable by any standard (parking, tourist activities, etc.) nor assisting with luggage. 4) No specific guidance, where to locate the "hotel" despite google. 5) "Hotel" indeed boutique, as there are different pictures in each room ;-). 6) Don't overinterpret the "5 Star ratings", as those travellers probably stay for the first time abroad! In summary: AVOID
