About this business
Discover the rich history of bullfighting at La Malagueta Tour - Museo Taurino de Málaga, located in the iconic Plaza de toros de La Malagueta. This engaging museum offers insights into the cultural significance of bullfighting in Spain. Find directions and contact details below.

About the neighbourhood: Málaga-Este

The Eastern district stretches along the coast from La Malagueta beach to the village-like fishing quarter of El Palo. It contains some of the city's most distinctive areas: La Malagueta (urban beach next to the port), Pedregalejo (palm-lined seafront paseo, traditional espetos), El Palo (working fishing community and casual chiringuitos), and El Limonar / Cerrado de Calderón (residential hillside with sea views). Local buses 11 and 34 connect the entire strip to the city centre. The seafront promenade is continuous and walkable end-to-end.

The bull fighting ring tour was great! We met my Miguel Angel, Carolina and Elena who gave us so much information and taught us how the bull fighters use the cape and the red curtain. I want to tell you that they made our experience so much fun. Thank you you all three for being so kind!

There is so much information and the VR experience was wonderful. We were lucky enough to see a real bull fighter practicing.

I highly recommend taking this tour.

The Taurino Museum in Málaga, located inside the former bullring, is a very interesting and thought-provoking place to visit. Once an arena where bloody bullfights took place, it now gives visitors a clear insight into the origins and traditions of this controversial spectacle.

The exhibition is well presented, with historic items displayed in an engaging way. Upon arrival, you receive a small handheld device that you simply point at the numbered displays to hear the full explanation of each item — very practical and easy to use. After picking up the device, you follow the arrows that guide you through every aspect of the tradition.

Walking through the empty bullring creates an eerie feeling. At moments it almost feels as if the cheers of the crowds still echo through the arena — and then suddenly you are brought back to the quiet reality of what once happened there.

One of the most intriguing parts is the infirmary, where injured toreadors were treated. The immersive presentation, with sounds projected along the corridor, makes this section especially powerful.

It is definitely worthwhile visiting if you want a better understanding of this tradition.

Santi was a fantastic guide. He was very patient and good natured with our family with young children. He answered all of our questions and even taught us proper muleta form. :)

The tour was excellent and it was incredible to be allowed on the bull ring grounds.

Even if bullfighting is not your cup of tea, this is a visit we recommend, the history was amazing, well worth the money, able to take the tour at our own pace. We spent @ 90 minutes at the tour, this included the VR experience which is included in the entry fee

No queue to enter, attendant at the door was very helpful and informative.
Talked through use of the audio guide.

Very well laid out route of the museum with perfect signage of exactly where to go.
Plenty of seats to pause to listen to the audio.

Audio and exhibits were informative about the history of bull fighting in Malaga and partly the world. Access all areas including holding pens :)
Ethically interesting to see - vet check etc

There’s a fair amount of steps if you have mobility issues this could be tricky.

There was a vending machine about half way through for beverages but no official cafe.

There is a photo experience where you are superimposed into a bull fight which costs a little extra.
There is also a VR experience so you can get a feel for the atmosphere.
Nice interactive features :)

I found the experience interesting and enjoyable particularly seeing the medical wing with operating theatres! :o
Also amazing to see the outfits up close and how difficult it is to get on!
