Restaurant Origen Nerja

Excellent quality ceviche but very small portions. We got ceviche trio marked for sharing. It’s pretty small for sharing. Sea bass - a tiny potion, what did they do with the rest of the fish. Same for octopus.

Excellent authentic Peruvian food! The ceviche 2.0 was amazing. Great mixture of flavours.
Although a bit more pricey, I definitely recommend to come and enjoy the food here!

The only little improvement point was the espresso. It was too watery.

Wow! What amazing flavors—hands down the best chef! Everything we tried was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. My favorite was the Hosomaki with mango, but truly, every dish was a hit. The quality of the food speaks for itself, and you really can’t go wrong here. Highly recommend!

Origen is a Peruvian fusion restaurant which occupies the same site as the departed and disappointing Fusion on Plaza de Espana. It is far, far, far better and more efficient and welcoming - thank goodness. Suffice to say there is nothing to dislike about Origen, accept perhaps the noise from the bar up the way showing Arsenal on the Sat TV or the kids in the Square pretending to be Saka. Ah, well, look, Origen is a different experience foodwise than anything I've had in Nerja, from the depth of flavours - seriously, how did they make a grape jus and make it spicy?? - to the portion sizes which settle your appetite rather than overwhelming it. I had a fabulous appetiser of chicken and sweet potato croquettes, followed by a corvina stew with rice, yuka and some fresh infused veg & spices. The fish was to die for, succulent and firm, the sauce an aromatic slightly spicy delight. After a pause - the food did come a tad fast - I had the chocolate cake for dessert. My god, that was succulent. Coffee needed sugar. Perhaps better even than the food was the servic standard, attentative, friendly and packed full of information about the dishes and their origins in traditional Peruvian cuisine. Eating at Origen is not an imposition, it is a delicious delight and I wish them all the success in the future. Thank you very much.

Our party of four all felt this was one of the best culinary experiences we’ve had! The staff at Origen are all extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the food and drinks were incredible. Our table had several of their home-made fresh juices as well as the crispy rice salmon tartare, ceviche, duck, and steak. Can’t recommend enough.
