★★★☆☆
From the outside, Restaurant Gusto looks really appealing. The outdoor seating area is attractive, the wood fired pizza oven adds a nice authentic touch, and there are plenty of staff around which initially gives the impression of attentive service and a well run place. It definitely draws you in and sets a good first expectation.
Service is undeniably quick, but that comes with a downside. The whole experience felt quite rushed, with a clear focus on turning tables as quickly as possible rather than allowing guests to relax and enjoy their meal. It had more of a “get you in, get you served, and get you out” feel rather than a welcoming dining experience where you can take your time.
The start of the visit was a bit confusing and set the tone. One member of staff did not speak English, which is completely understandable, but the way it was handled was not very smooth. We were shown to a table and then left without menus or any explanation. We had to ask for menus, were then directed to scan a QR code on the table, and shortly after that physical menus were brought anyway. It just felt disorganised and unclear.
As for the food, it was okay but nothing particularly memorable. For a large number of people, it would probably be perfectly acceptable and enjoyable, especially given the setting and atmosphere. However, it did not stand out in terms of flavour or quality, and it did not give me a reason to want to return or recommend it over other options.
Overall, it is a place that looks great and delivers a fast service, but the rushed atmosphere, slightly disjointed service, and average food mean it falls short of being somewhere I would choose to visit again.
