Centauro Car Hire Malaga Train Station

Very easy, great car, excellent service. Book online and then your car is waiting for you. Make sure to reserve an automatic car if you're like me and don't feel 100% comfortable with manual. Less € than the global rental brands located inside Málaga María Zambrano train station. Centauro office is across the street. Rubén was super helpful explaining the procedure, answering my questions, and getting us set up with the car seat. I'll use them again for sure.

My first time renting a car, I’m glad that I chose this company. Both of the employees that I have met were so helpful and nice, the whole process was very smooth from just asking about renting to renting the car itself and returning (even a day before was not an issue, they will charge a fee tho). They recommended me an automatic as it was my first time driving in Spain and I did not know the roads and I’m glad. The car was new and modern, just what you need. Thanks! And refund came back withing 48 hours.

Superhelpful and serviceminded rental service. Helped us make the cheapest return option, gave us superhelpful tips to make our trip even more eventuful and really went the extra mile to make us smile 😃 so easy and with maps to everywhere. And as the guy said before we left: dont waste your time checking the car: everything is on us! Except if you put diesel or loose the key… stressfree!!!

Title: Terrible Experience with Centauro and Booking.com

I booked an SUV through Centauro at Malaga Train Station via Booking.com, and the experience was a disaster from start to finish. Upon arrival, the only car available in the class I booked (automatic, Seat Ateca or similar) was badly damaged with scratches in several spots and a cracked front bumper. When I refused this car due to the visible damage, the rental center claimed they had no other SUVs available.

I requested a refund, but they said it wasn’t possible because the booking was made through Booking.com. Attempts to cancel online failed, as Booking.com’s policy requires cancellations at least 24 hours before the due date. When I asked to downsize to a smaller car (without a refund), they again said it wasn’t possible because of Booking.com.

The only option they gave me was a manual SUV, which is usually cheaper, but they refused to adjust the cost. Desperate and with no alternatives, I accepted the car. This vehicle also had scratches, though less severe. I documented the damage with timestamped photos and informed the staff, who assured me the scratches were already noted.

When I returned the car, they tried to charge me for some of the scratches, claiming they had no record of them. Only after I showed my photos did they back down, but they still insisted I should be charged. Fortunately, I avoided extra charges, but the experience was exhausting.

I’ll never rent from Centauro or use Booking.com for car rentals again. If you decide to rent a car, make sure you have the option to cancel until the pick-up time, and always take detailed photos of any damage before leaving.
