The Unicaja Foundation Cultural Center in Antequera is housed in the former Palace of the Marquises of Villadarias, an 18th-century Baroque building located on Lucena Street. This space was inaugurated after a meticulous restoration that transformed the stately structure of the residence into a modern center for the dissemination of art and culture, while preserving original elements such as its courtyard with red marble columns and its impressive stone façade.

One of its most noteworthy features is that the center permanently houses a remarkable collection of works by the Antequera-born painter José María Fernández, whose work was fundamental in documenting the life and heritage of the city in the early 20th century. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the building serves as a vibrant cultural hub, organizing workshops, conferences, and temporary exhibitions of painting and photography that attract both local and national artists.

The design of the space makes use of the former stately rooms to create exhibition halls that contrast contemporary art with the grandeur of the palatial walls. Its location, on one of the streets with the highest density of stately homes in Antequera, makes it an essential stop for those following the civil architecture route, also offering the possibility of entering and closely observing the structure of one of the city's great palaces.
