Colomares Castle is an absolutely beautiful place. The architecture is stunning — full of intricate details, arches, towers and carvings that make you feel like you’re inside a stone fairytale.
The views of the sea and coastline add even more magic to the experience. It’s peaceful, photogenic and truly special. Definitely worth visiting if you’re nearby.

Colomares Castle is a very impressive and unique place to visit. The architecture is stunning, with incredible details everywhere you look and the views from the area are absolutely beautiful. It is a great spot for taking photos.

The only downside is the parking situation, which can be quite challenging. Finding a parking spot can be a real hassle, especially later in the day. I would strongly recommend arriving around opening time to avoid the parking problems and enjoy a more relaxed visit.

Overall, it's a beautiful and worthwhile attraction with amazing views, but make sure to plan ahead when it comes to parking. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous views and the area surrounding it is beautiful. So glad I managed to finally visit. However, you can get round it and take lovely photos very quickly, so don’t expect to spend a long time here but do visit the lovely village higher up. It is gorgeous and the views are stunning. We watched the sunrise and then had coffee and croissants at a local cafe before visiting the castle

A Hidden Gem Near Málaga – Castillo de Colomares

Castillo de Colomares is one of the most charming and unique places we visited near Málaga. Although it’s quite compact, every corner of this castle is incredibly picturesque. It’s a beautiful and creative homage to Christopher Columbus and the history of exploration, and you can see the incredible attention to detail in the architecture and design.

The castle sits above Benalmádena, offering stunning views over the town and out to the Mediterranean Sea. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, and it’s a wonderful spot for photos. Despite its small size, there’s so much to admire—from intricate carvings and symbolic structures to a small exhibition that explains the inspiration and story behind the monument.

One of the best things about visiting is how easy and relaxed the experience is. Ticketing is quick and affordable, and when we visited there were no long queues. You can comfortably explore the entire site in about 30 minutes to an hour, making it a perfect short stop if you’re exploring the Costa del Sol.

It’s also very conveniently located—just a short drive from Málaga and Málaga Airport. There’s even a café nearby where you can relax after your visit and enjoy the lovely surroundings.

Castillo de Colomares is clearly becoming a more popular tourist spot, and it’s easy to see why. Small but absolutely stunning, it’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
