About the neighbourhood: Málaga-Este

The Eastern district stretches along the coast from La Malagueta beach to the village-like fishing quarter of El Palo. It contains some of the city's most distinctive areas: La Malagueta (urban beach next to the port), Pedregalejo (palm-lined seafront paseo, traditional espetos), El Palo (working fishing community and casual chiringuitos), and El Limonar / Cerrado de Calderón (residential hillside with sea views). Local buses 11 and 34 connect the entire strip to the city centre. The seafront promenade is continuous and walkable end-to-end.

Our whole family loves DL Málaga. There truly is something for everyone! For me, my favorite part is taking Reformer Pilates classes with Elena Rodríguez Fiestas. She’s an incredible instructor and always makes every class both challenging and enjoyable. The best!

I had an amazing experience at David Lloyd Málaga thanks to Marco. He was incredibly helpful, attentive, and respectful — honestly the kind of customer service that can be hard to find anywhere, not just in Málaga. He truly went above and beyond and made me feel welcome from the beginning.
Before joining, I read many reviews mentioning worn-out machines and staff not speaking English. I do agree that, for the price members pay, the owners should continue improving some of the facilities. However, I also think people should understand how fast Málaga is growing. As someone who has lived here for over 6 years, I’ve seen more and more expats choosing this beautiful city as home, and many malagueños are adapting to that change, learning English and improving customer service little by little.
Seeing someone like Marco, with such a professional and kind attitude, honestly exceeded my expectations and made a huge difference in my experience.

I love my classes with Noelia!! Barre and Pilates are my favorites and the hi-light of my week! She also does an amazing job making sure I don't get lost, and teaches just as well for an English speaker that is still learning Spanish!

I’m honestly quite disappointed with this gym, and the overall experience has become more stressful than beneficial.

The main issue is clear: they’ve taken on far more members than the facility can realistically handle. There are constant promotions to attract new clients, but the reality for those already paying is overcrowding at every level.

Parking is a daily struggle—you can easily spend 15–20 minutes just waiting for a space, which already sets a frustrating tone before your workout even begins. Once inside, it doesn’t get much better. Machines are almost always occupied, making it difficult to follow any structured routine unless you come very early in the morning or try your luck around lunchtime.

Booking classes is another source of stress. You practically need to set an alarm for 7:00 PM just to have a chance at securing a spot. Even then, it’s not guaranteed—you often have to rely on notifications and last-minute openings. This kind of system turns what should be a positive, healthy activity into something unnecessarily tense.

The only real positive is the staff. The trainers are genuinely excellent—professional, approachable, and clearly dedicated to their work. They are the one aspect of the gym that consistently meets expectations.

Unfortunately, aside from the trainers, the overall experience feels poorly managed and overcrowded. Unless capacity and organization improve, it’s hard to recommend this gym.

I like this gym because of the people, trainers, and services, and that’s why I’m still a member. However, for a gym charging over €100/month, the level of cleanliness and maintenance is not acceptable. Bathrooms and spa areas are often dirty and poorly maintained, with broken or loose fixtures, visible rust, and standing water. Combined with frequent overcrowding, parking delays, and a flawed class booking system, the facilities do not match the premium price.
