About the neighbourhood: Distrito Centro
Málaga's historic core, bounded by the Guadalmedina river to the west, the port to the south and the slopes of Mount Gibralfaro to the east. The district contains the Cathedral, the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba fortress, the Picasso Museum and the Pompidou Centre, plus the main shopping street Calle Marqués de Larios. Inside Distrito Centro sit the well-known sub-areas of Centro Histórico, Soho, La Merced and Lagunillas. The area is almost entirely pedestrianised, served by Metro Atarazanas and the Málaga–Centro Alameda rail station.

We parked there for a 3 nights stay while in the center of Malaga. The elevator was not working so we had to use the car ramps to carry our luggage. Their machines will not accept multiple days prepaid coupons provided by your accomodation so you will need help from the staff when you want to exit. Thankfully the staff was responsive and were able to help us in less than 10 minutes. It is a shady part of the town and homeless roam around the area.
Although centrally located, as others have noted many spots are reserved and remaining spaces are tiny and cramped at best. You'll need a sunroof or convertible to get out in many spots because doors will not open enough. Save yourself the trouble and park elsewhere.
Not recommended for parking, most of the parking are reserved, very few available places. Going up and down is via a tight passage. Take a cab, park somewhere else, just avoid this horrible parking space.
