About this business
Chiringuito El Cachalote is a charming beachfront restaurant in Málaga, offering a delightful selection of local dishes and refreshing drinks. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and stunning sea views as you savor your meal. Find directions and contact details below.

About the neighbourhood: Málaga-Este

The Eastern district stretches along the coast from La Malagueta beach to the village-like fishing quarter of El Palo. It contains some of the city's most distinctive areas: La Malagueta (urban beach next to the port), Pedregalejo (palm-lined seafront paseo, traditional espetos), El Palo (working fishing community and casual chiringuitos), and El Limonar / Cerrado de Calderón (residential hillside with sea views). Local buses 11 and 34 connect the entire strip to the city centre. The seafront promenade is continuous and walkable end-to-end.

Great beach restaurant with bbq. Seated quickly on a Sunday afternoon without reservation. Orders taken quickly and service was very good. You cannot go wrong with the whole bbq fish. Our price pp includes a bottle of wine, otherwise prices are in line with other restaurants in the area.

This restaurant is a good option if you want to try nice Mediterranean seafood, the baby squid 🦑 fried was amazing and the fried anchovies were tasty as well. We tried paella which was really special. And octopus is another nice experience. And the best to the last, the grilled sea bream fis was amazingand the red fish and lastly the fried Aubergine was exceptionally tasty. The atmosphere was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend.

A simple beach cafe with relatively affordable prices.
Simple interior and most of the customers are also people from the beach, so if you dress up, you will probably feel uncomfortable here.
The strongest part of the atmosphere is the sea view.
Since it was located near our hotel, we visited this place several times.
The food was mostly delicious and the price-quality ratio is good.
The service was simple and friendly.
We always managed to get a table without a reservation, but many customers book a table in advance for dinner.
If you want a more upscale place, you have to walk towards the city center, but the prices there are also significantly more expensive.

We visited this beachfront restaurant twice during our trip to Málaga. On our first visit, the grilled fish was delicious and came with a simple but tasty boiled potato pairing. We also ordered the grilled sardines, which were very good. Our second visit was less impressive the fried fish was bit too salty. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and the beach is a definite highlight.

Modern version of the much loved espetos de sardinas joints where sardines are skewered and cooked at the side of an open fire on the beach. Reasonable prices and very fresh fish. If you're on the beach, it is a must do.
